Pastor: With God out of the picture, national problems persist
Allie Martin - OneNewsNow - 10/8/2008 8:30:00 AM
A Virginia pastor is calling Christians nationwide to fast and pray for 33 days over the economic crisis and upcoming election.

Bishop E.W. Jackson, Sr., is founder of Exodus Faith Ministries, a nondenominational ministry headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia, with a satellite church in Boston. Recently, Bishop Jackson and his congregations began a 33-day period of prayer and fasting for America. He says Christians around the country should cry out for divine intervention to relieve the nation's problems.

"We were founded on faith in God. We have survived crisis after crisis because of our faith in God and our sense that we are a providential nation that God has a plan for," Jackson contends. "And it seems that the further we get away from that and the more we allow certain elements in our culture and country to force us to leave God out of the picture, leave God out of the program, don't mention God, God's not a part of this -- it seems that the worse things get."

Bishop Jackson will co-host a service the Sunday before the presidential election. Other churches around the country are being asked to hold similar prayer services.

The Lord Himself is the source of hope because His character is unchanging, His love is steadfast, His promises will all come true, and His omnipotence determines our future! How wonderfully beautiful is this promise!!
