i found some verses james 4:8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

Hi Jessica,
You and I are on the same page hun. I've said before that I pray for a pure heart almost everytime I talk with Jesus. Tina gave you some good scriptures. Go to your concordance and look up purify. There are many there.
When I ask the Lord for a pure heart, I am in essence asking Him to again cleanse me of my sins and to bring me to a closer walk with Him. A pure heart is an unwaivering desire to bring honor to God. It's a unquenchable thirst for knowledge. A dieing to self daily, and a deep need to live a righteous and upright life. It's a daily conference with God that gives us a pure heart. Listening to Him correct us and letting Him take control of our emotions, our hearts and our minds. Our lives will never be lived perfectly, not until we actually have the mind of Christ in Heaven. But we can do our very best in life and try to live obediently as sons and daughters of the Most High King.
love, terri

When I pray for a pure heart, I remember the story of David. As Bathsheba was giving birth to their first child (the one conceived before she became his wife and David had her husband killed), David prayed for the Lord to make within him a new heart. I love that statement. To me it means to take out all the sin and ugliness of the heart and fill it with love, peace, purity, beauty etc. As for a pure mind, I feel that if your heart is pure, your mind will be too. Fill it with the Word! That's my take on the subject. Hope it helps!
