Bar & Grill? Yes. But I do know a man who sold his liquor stores after his conversion. We must remember alcohol is not sinful in of itself; it is becoming drunk that we fail to meet God's standard. At restaurants, as a rule, people do not get drunk, and I suspect your friends might make sure cutoffs are enforced, thereby making it a safer place to consume alcohol. Even Jesus drank alcohol (but never to excess.). What we must remember is the importance of being in control of our mental faculties at all times. This not only encompasses alcohol, but also includes drugs, addictions, and even getting a proper amount of sleep. It is making sure I am mentally sober that I personally never drink, but I won't look down my nose at those who have a drink. Now I will slap silly those who get drunk, and I guarantee my wife will take out anyone who drives drunk. But there is nothing wrong with a drink or two if you remain mentally alert. Good question. We must remain vigilant to such things, and it is good to show concern about those who deal in things that could become a hang-up to others.

I agree Brian. I don't drink anymore either but I don't see anything wrong with people having a glass of wine with dinner. Speaking from experience though, it's always good to stear clear of anything that has a tendency to be addictive or that can cloud our senses. One drink quite often leads to another. But in answer to your question Marge. The friendship you have with this couple shouldn't change. It's between them and God over the way they run their business. They will either feel the conviction over serving alchohol or they won't. It's best to leave these sort of judgement calls to God.

Ephesians 5:15 Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. 19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I agree with Brian and Terri, but wanted to post this scripture!
